Forsyth is the county seat of Rosebud County. It is nestled below a rim of rough badlands along the banks of the Yellowstone River and along the Lewis and Clark Trail. Two state parks, Rosebud State Recreation Area East and West Unit, give access to the river and provide camping and picnic areas. The area is great for hiking, hunting, rock hounding and golf. It is a pretty town, with trees and western character. It developed well economically from its history with the railroad and its real estate market has maintained if not strengthened over the past two years.
